New management focuses on future at Home Dir.

LIVERMORE, Calif. - After a management shift earlier this year, Home Director, a provider of home networking solutions, is focusing on driving business through a newly established business plan. The blueprint focuses on providing technology solutions in new homes throughout the country. The company’s networking products can connect audio and video systems, television services, security systems, utilities and the Internet “We’ve really refocused the company,” said Tom Wilky, vice president of marketing at Home Director. The company has developed partnerships with homebuilders such as Land Tejas and Beazer Homes to attempt to reach its goal of 10 percent penetration in the mass production home market. In addition, the company reaches consumers through Digital Interiors, its installation arm. Another business driver is the Sears Connected Home program, which the company provides infrastructure through an authorized dealer network. But the company finds market value mostly through its partnerships with homebuilders. “Our primary market are these 1.5 million new homes being built in the United States,” Wilky said. Garnering business in that market, as well as growing the business in other areas, fueled the company to secure $5.2-million in equity financing. “The plan has always been there, but we now have the people in place and the capital in place to execute,” Wilky said. It may be as though everything is set for Home Director to move into the forefront of home automation solutions, but it’s all up to the company continuing to focus on it its immediate goals. “We are primarily focused on delivering solutions to today’s homebuyers,” Wilky said. “Homebuyers have certain technology expectations in the home. We provide those solutions.”
