Sandy Hook principal had implemented new security measures

NEWTOWN, Conn.—Dawn Hocksprung, the principal of Sandy Hook Elementary who died in the school shootings, had recently implemented new security measures, according to a CNN report.
In the fall, Hocksprung sent a letter to parents outlining new security procedures, which included checking identifications for visitors if they were not recognized by staff.
The letter also stated that visitors arriving at the school after 9:30 a.m., when the front gates were locked, would have to ring a bell for entry and report to the main office to sign in.
Last week's shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary was the second deadliest school shooting in U.S. history. Twenty-six victims died at the school, including 20 children and six staff members.
