Security gives back

The devastating Texas floods that have killed over 130 people – including nearly 40 children – and left more than 100 missing since the Fourth of July have sprung the security industry into action, with immediate support to the ravaged areas.
Mission 500’s mission is to serve the needs of children and communities in crisis here in the United States, and we at Security Systems News are proud supporters of this nonprofit organization through the various events they host, including the Security 5K/2K at ISC West, the annual softball game and golf outing, and care pack building.
Another example of Mission 500’s dedication to helping communities in need came to fruition this past week following a request for help from industry veteran and Texas resident Charles “CHUCK” Andrews, founder of the Friends of Chuck networking group.
Andrews requested a grant for a local charity to get help and money in the hands of families in need who lost their homes due to the catastrophic floods in Kerrville and the surrounding communities in the Texas Hill Country.
Just like that, Mission 500 not only received a donation of 35 pallets of supplies to ship to the affected communities but also approved a cash grant for a local charity to deliver these supplies to the impacted areas in Texas!
Mission 500 Chairman and Texas native Jason Lutz expressed his gratitude for everyone stepping up and coming through to provide clothing, personal protective equipment (PPE) and other essential supplies, resources, and relief to the families who need it most right now.
“That's when Mission 500 shines - when children are hurting, we step in and help. Our goal is to make an impact fast and ease the suffering,” he said in a LinkedIn post. “We could never do these quick actions without all our donors and sponsors, and we definitely couldn't be as nimble if I didn't have an amazing board. Thank you all!”
Just watching the footage and photos showing the devastation that the heavy rainfall and the subsequent rising Guadalupe River caused is heartbreaking, and Mission 500 is coming through yet again to support communities during times of crisis.
Thank you, Mission 500, and prayers up for the Texas flood victims!
