Security system helps nab burglary suspect

HOMEWOOD, Pa.—Authorities here said a home security system helped police catch a burglary suspect early Wednesday morning, according to an article from WXPI, a news station based in Pittsburgh.

Officers were dispatched to a house just after 3 a.m. March 6 when the home's alarm system went off, according to the police report. The keypad informed the victim that the alarm's activation point was his garage.

When he went to the garage, baseball bat and machete in hand, he saw the suspect with tools in her hand, according to the report. She fled the scene on foot soon after.

The homeowner described the suspect to police, and the police tracked the alleged perpetrator's footprints in the snow until they arrested her at a nearby intersection, the report said.

The alleged burglar, Kisha McCoy, 46, was taken to the Allegheny County Jail and charged with burglary, according to the report.
