Staying chill

If you’re looking for me at ISC West, I’m not there! But the good news is that Security Systems News (SSN) is on the floor and if you take a good look, you can probably find us and flag us down for a good chat.
In truth I may have dodged a bullet in that respect this year. Yes, it’s true I’m missing out on some amazing content, and even better people and projects, buts it’s also an opportunity to support the team. I can also get some work done without having to worry about finding a spot where the Wi-Fi works.
There are also a few other good reasons of course. As the DHS funding freeze continues to be the political football of the moment, air travel, depending on your current location, has become something akin to a debacle. Thankfully Editor Cory relayed a relatively swift and easy passage through TSA on his trip to Vegas, but after the incident at La Guardia airport recently, it’s understandable that nerves might be frayed for travelers making the pilgrimage to ISC West.
Speaking of freezes, apparently ICE officers rate as replacements for TSA agents now? Phoenix Sky Harbor was one of the 14 airports to which they were deployed, but since I’m playing hooky this year, I get to dodge that distinct pleasure.
What’s even less cool? The weather. It sounds like Vegas is a touch warm this time of year so make sure you snowbirds coming in from the east coast dress appropriately.
Enjoy the show, and safe travels!
