USPA going green: SSN interview with USPA Nationwide Security CEO Daniel Manning USPA Nationwide Security achieves platinum level certification with GBB

USPA

MIAMI – Global security guard company USPA Nationwide Security announced that it has reached a new milestone in its journey toward being a zero-carbon emission company.

On August 21 the company issued a release confirming that they’ve attained platinum level certification with the Green Business Bureau (GBB) in their five-year journey to hit net zero carbon emissions by 2023.

"What we do in the next few years to limit emissions will be critical to our children's futures," said Brian Fitzgibbons, USPA's Vice President. USPA Nationwide Security has been a paperless company for over 10 years and their parent company USPA International is nearly there with plans to be paperless by the end of the year. As such USPA has been Working together with green energy consultants and the GBB as a third-party measurement of their progress to help the environment.

Security Systems News reached out to USPA Nationwide Security CEO Daniel Manning to discuss their accomplishment and how it was achieved.

SSN - Tell me a little bit about USPA, When and why did you begin your journey towards having a green company?

Manning - USPA was founded in 2005 by Michael Evans, who retired from his role as CEO in 2021.  We are a full-service physical security providing, offering service ranging from fire watch to high level executive protection.  We operate throughout the United States as well as internationally.  USPA also operates a 501c3 charity called Kingsman, whose mission is to offer service to victims of human trafficking.  USPA donates 50% of all profits directly to Kingsman to fund rescue operations.  We had been mulling the idea of reducing our carbon footprint for a few years but couldn’t figure out the best way to execute until last year, when we decided to transition our patrol vehicles from fossil fueled to electric vehicles.  We understand that everyone must do their part to ensure the safety of our planet and generations after us. After all, we are a security provider, so protection is what we specialize in!

SSN - Financially, how has working towards net zero carbon emissions affected the operation of USPA?

Manning - Switching your fleet is never easy or cheap but allowing us to offer our clients a way to help reduce carbon emissions, while still maintaining a high level of security has had a positive impact.

SSN - Your Autonomous Security Technology Division is set to roll out in September, what kind of offering do you feel you bring to that market?

Manning - We are confident we will be a market leader in this industry.  We have a very large network of experienced drone operators who are more than capable of providing a high level of service.  Those in our network have operated at the highest level of Government before transitioning to the private sector, so they are both technically proficient as well extremely understanding of private sector needs in regard to customer service.  We are confident that our services will go unmatched.
(Toward that end USPS contracted former CEO Michael Evans and his company for research and development regarding their autonomous drone operations)

SSN - What lessons or important facts do you want other companies to take to heart about striving towards lower emissions and sustainable technology?

Manning - There won’t be a world for us to protect if we don’t try to do something, so see where you can implement new strategy within your company.

Among their many approaches to pursuing green policies and activities USPA has invested into research and development they say aligns with targets in the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
