SAN MATEO, Calif.—Verkada has promoted Carlos Rocha to country manager for Latin America (LATAM) as the company accelerates regional growth amid rising demand for artificial intelligence (AI)-powered physical security solutions.
Based in Mexico City, Rocha will oversee go-to-market strategy, sales operations and partner development across LATAM. He joined Verkada as its first employee in Mexico and has helped grow the regional team to more than 30 employees.
“Carlos has been instrumental in building Verkada’s business in Latin America from the ground up,” said Eric Salava, chief revenue officer at Verkada.
The company said its LATAM bookings increased 300% year over year, supported by a partner network of more than 400 firms. Customer growth in the region rose 52% over the past year, with deployments across manufacturing, retail and industrial sectors.
Rocha said the region presents a strong opportunity for cloud-based and AI-enabled security adoption. “Organizations here … are ahead of the curve when it comes to AI and cloud adoption, which has made Verkada’s AI-native, cloud-based platform the clear choice for their capital investments."
Verkada also highlighted broader scale metrics for its platform, including processing more than 400 million images per hour during peak periods, supporting 8 million daily door unlocks via access control, and helping prevent more than 5,000 potential threats last year through its visitor management system.
The announcement comes as Verkada continues global expansion, including new U.S. offices in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles, and an international hub in Dubai. The company said it now serves more than 30,000 customers worldwide and was recently valued at $5.8 billion following an investment from CapitalG, Alphabet’s growth fund.
