Monitoring center looks to help Spanish speakers

FREEPORT, N.Y.—Emergency Response USA, a personal alert system provider with a monitoring station here, has moved toward a mostly bilingual staff of operators.
“Eighty percent of all our operators right now are fluent in English and Spanish,” company general manager Wayne Wahrsager told Security Systems News.

Wayne Wahrsager's New York Merchants Protective Co. Inc.—an alarm company in existence for more than 100 years—is no more as the result of a $20 million breach-of contract lawsuit filed against the company and Wahrsager last year by Bank of America.
But Wahrsager tells me he is still very much a player in the security industry—and planning to launch a new alarm company in October with $50 million in funding behind it.

Judge OK's NYMP sale

It's official: A federal judge issued an order yesterday giving the green light for the financially embattled New York Merchants Protective Co. to be sold to Professional Security Technologies LLC in order to pay off creditors.
The written order by U.S. District Court Judge Denis Hurley describes the asset purchase agreement for the New York-based alarm company—in existence for about 100 years—as “fair and reasonable and in the best interest of the estate.”

Termination of NMYP president upheld

FREEPORT, N.Y.—A federal judge this week upheld the firing of Wayne Wahrsager from his job as president of New York Merchants Protective Co., Inc. (NYMP).
The date of the termination actually was April 15, the day that the court-appointed receiver now running the debt-ridden NYMP filed a letter with the court complaining that he had fired Wahrsager, but that he refused to leave.

FREEPORT, N.Y.—Major gun manufacturer Smith & Wesson has terminated its licensing agreement with NationWide Digital Monitoring Co. effective today, March 31.
