OREM, Utah—Signaling a major shift in strategy, ALDER has launched ALDER AI, a new business dedicated to monitored video surveillance and AI-driven threat detection, as the company moves beyond its legacy alarm business and embraces what it sees as the future of electronic security.
The launch follows the sale of hundreds of thousands of legacy alarm accounts over the past several years and marks ALDER's latest effort to capitalize on growing demand for intelligent video solutions.
The company said ALDER AI will focus on monitored video surveillance, combining artificial intelligence, video analytics, 24/7 monitoring, real-time notifications and integrated hardware and software platforms.
"For years, the alarm system was at the center of the security industry, and cameras were an addition to it. We believe that relationship is changing," said Adam Schanz, founder and CEO of ALDER. "Video is increasingly becoming the center of the experience, and AI gives us the ability to make that video more intelligent, proactive and useful."
Schanz said the company is positioning itself around the belief that customers are looking for security technologies capable of providing real-time awareness and actionable intelligence rather than simply capturing footage after an incident occurs.
ALDER AI's offerings are expected to incorporate intelligent cameras, network video recorder technology, wireless 4G connectivity, solar-powered solutions and software designed to identify potential threats and deliver alerts in real time.
As part of the launch, ALDER named Zac Whitworth managing director of ALDER AI. Whitworth will oversee sales, field operations, distribution, recruiting and expansion efforts as the company builds a national presence.
"We have a unique opportunity to build with the energy and ambition of something new, while drawing on the experience, infrastructure and resources of an organization that has been doing this successfully for a long time," Whitworth said.
