O.W.L. launches long-range 3D radar for drone awareness, CUAS applications

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—Observation Without Limits (O.W.L.) has launched its GA7360LR Extended Mid-Range 360-Degree Radar System, a new 3D radar designed for low-altitude airspace surveillance, drone awareness, counter-unmanned aircraft systems (CUAS) and beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) operations.
According to the company, the GA7360LR builds on its GA7360 radar introduced in 2024 with extended detection ranges, improved target tracking accuracy and enhanced target classification capabilities.
“Building on the success of the original GA7360 radar model introduced in 2024, the GA7360LR extends detection ranges, improves accuracy and consistency of target tracking, and enhances the accuracy and reliability of target classification in a single 360-degree radar,” said CEO Adam Robinett.
The radar provides a 360-degree horizontal field of view and a 45-degree elevation field of view. O.W.L. said the system can automatically detect, track and classify targets at ranges up to 7.5 kilometers and does not require multiple radar panels, reducing infrastructure and deployment costs.
Applications include drone situational awareness, CUAS systems, drone-as-first-responder programs, bird detection and detect-and-avoid operations. The company said the system is intended for critical infrastructure operators and government agencies responsible for low-altitude airspace security.
The GA7360LR uses digital beamforming radar technology and can distinguish among humans, animals, vehicles, aircraft and drones. It also integrates with third-party systems including cameras, video analytics platforms, drone management systems, video management systems and counter-drone technologies.
According to O.W.L., the radar can detect aircraft and vehicles at ranges of 7.5 kilometers, pedestrians at four kilometers and DJI Phantom IV drones at three kilometers.
