Security Systems News to honor the Lannings with Security Legend Award

YARMOUTH, Maine—Security Systems News is excited to announce the winners of the third annual Security Legend Award, which recognizes security industry professionals who have been leaders throughout their careers, and who continue to selflessly give back to help push the industry forward.

SSN is super proud to honor Christine and Andrew Lanning – the ultimate security power couple – for their incredible accomplishments within the industry, providing leadership not only for their integration company in Hawaii, Integrated Security Technologies Inc. (IST), which continues to win “best places to work” awards year after year, but also for their selfless devotion to raising the security industry to new heights.

The Lannings join 2020 honoree Jim Coleman, who founded and ran Operational Security Systems (OSS) for nearly half a century, and inaugural 2019 winners Bill Bozeman, then president and CEO of PSA Security, and Jim Henry, consultant, Butchko•ESI, as Legend Award recipients. SSN will present the award to Christine and Andrew at our SecurityNext conference, April 25-27, at The Westin Nashville, during the Award Reception on Tuesday, April 26, from 5:30 - 7:00 P.M.

“We’ve truly benefited both personally and professionally from all of the security industry outreach and national security collaboration efforts that we’ve participated in over the years,” said IST Co-Founder Andrew Lanning, who along with his wife Christine continues to give back to industry by serving on committees, speaking at conferences and working locally in Hawaii. “We highly recommend that everyone make some time in their schedules to meaningfully contribute to the growth of their favorite local, regional, or national security organization at a board or committee level. The learning opportunities are endless, and the friendships borne from those professional collaborations endure long after the organizational commitment has been satisfied.”

As President of Integrated Security Technologies — a woman-owned, small technology business in Hawaii in business since 1998 – Christine Lanning leads an elite team of systems integrators. IST’s mission “Leading Hawaii to a Safer Place” reflects her history of commitment to the local community and the security industry.

In 2014, Christine was awarded the ASIS Woman of the Year Award and in 2015 became the first female elected to the Board of Directors for PSA Security Network, North America’s largest electronic security cooperative. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a master’s degree in Information Systems. Christine is a champion for culture building and leadership, believing in Ho’ohui (creating connections and building bridges together).

Andrew Lanning started his career in the computer and electronics field in 1982 and continued his electronics career as a radar and missile weapons technician in the U.S. Navy, earning a combat action ribbon in 1988 during Operation Praying Mantis in the Persian Gulf. After the Navy, he joined the electronic security industry in 1994 and co-founded IST with his wife Christine in Honolulu, Hawaii, in May of 1998.

Nationally, Andrew serves the security industry through membership on the National Defense Intelligence Sharing and Analysis Center (ND-ISAC) policy working group, as chairman of the InfraGard National Members Alliance (INMA) Electronic Security Industry Cross Sector Council, and as a Board Member of the SecuritySpecifiers' CONSULT advisory group.

In Hawaii, Andrew serves as the current President and Defense Industrial Base Sector Chief for the InfraGard Hawaii Members Alliance. He also serves on the Board of Directors as treasurer for the National Defense Industry Association Hawaii Chapter. He is a graduate of the Honolulu FBI Citizens Academy, an active member of the Federal Law Enforcement Foundation, and a founding member of The Rotary Club of Hickam Pearl Harbor.

In 2019 he was honored to receive the PSA Security Network President’s Paul Marcus Award for industry leadership as well as the Security Industry Association’s Jay Hauhn Award for industry partnership. In 2020 he received the SIA Women in Security Progress Award for spearheading their nascent scholarship program and in 2021 he was selected as the IFSEC #1 Influencer in Fire and Security among Manufacturers/Vendors/Installers/Integrators.

On a personal level, I am looking forward to presenting Christine and Andrew with their awards in-person in Nashville at SecurityNext, as they have been an incredible influence and supporter of our efforts here at SSN, and beyond that, as a colleague and friend to me over the past six years. Congratulations from the entire team at SSN to two people who embody this Security Legend award!
