YARMOUTH, Maine — Cloud-based access control is positioning security integrators at the forefront of the industry’s transformation by better equipping them to meet modern challenges and deliver enhanced value, experts said during a recent industry webcast.
In “Unlocking the future: cloud-based access control for modern security integrators,” which was hosted by Security Systems News, moderator and Editor Cory Harris engaged panelists on how cloud technology is reshaping security deployment.
Key benefits of cloud-based access control
Joel Barfield, senior account manager, SAGE Integration: “I think three key things: remote management for both sides, automatic updates, no servers. It scales easily is another across dealers, users and sites; and predictability for R&R and for budgeting purposes for the practitioner. Effectively, cloud sort of takes the complexity out of access control. For integrators, it’s predictable revenue and for end-users, it’s peace of mind.”
The need for scalability
Kelsey Kerling, director of national sales and strategic initiatives, LVC Companies: “I think I hear a lot today about continuous updates (and) about predictability, but I think it's highly important to talk about scalability. I think Connex control is really real-time scalability. For us integrators, it really does unlock efficiency, faster deployment, smarter use of our technical resources, how we strategize (and) how we really support our customers, and I think the ability to design systems more strategically to cut costs. My objective, I always say, is to save the customer money, and make them look good. If I do that, then I know I’m in a really strong position with them.”
And the need for speed
Greg Mastroserio, vice president, commercial and integrated solutions sales, Everon: “The one word that comes to my mind is speed. You have to remember, in this instance, there is no more servers, so as far as updates, well, there’s no more waiting around for that. Those are done automatically. So, when I say speed as an integrator (I mean), how fast are we acting for them? How fast are we implementing the system for them, and then how fast are we troubleshooting their systems, as well? I think they all go hand-in-hand.”
