CHICAGO — Predictive security wasn’t just a theme at VerkadaOne 2025 – it was the mission. In a post-conference interview with Security Systems News, Brandon Davito, Verkada’s senior vice president of operations, shared how the company is sharpening its ability to anticipate threats rather than simply respond to them, all while maintaining accuracy, usability, and trust.
Held from September 22 through the 24, VerkadaOne is the company’s annual cloud security conference which returned for its second outing in Chicago this year.
Precision in prediction
When it comes to AI-powered alerts, Verkada is walking the line between automation and user control. Asked how the company ensures real-world accuracy and minimizes false positives, Davito emphasized the importance of customizable features and user feedback.
“We spend a lot of time thinking about how to make alerts high quality and easy to use,” he explained. “One example is our preview feature for AI-powered alerts. The preview shows anticipated results and estimated daily volumes, and, importantly, allows you to fine-tune the alerts to be more broad or precise based on your organization’s needs.”
Davito added that these tools help prevent alert fatigue, which has been a growing challenge for organizations as they deploy more intelligent sensors and monitoring systems.
“We’ve also made it easy to provide in-app feedback on results to help them keep improving over time,” he said, noting that user input feeds back into Verkada’s continual model refinement process.
The platform effect
A recurring theme at VerkadaOne was the continued evolution of Verkada Command, the company’s unified cloud platform that ties together video security, access control, environmental sensors, alarms and visitor management.
Following CEO Filip Kaliszan’s remarks last year on expanding beyond cameras, Davito said customer adoption data underscores the momentum behind the multi-product strategy.
“Our vision of building a platform that natively integrates all of the devices that protect people and places is resonating,” he said. “Today, 77% of our large customers use two or more Verkada products – proof that customers are looking for a single pane of glass to manage all of their locations.”
Verkada’s goal, Davito emphasized, is to reduce complexity and streamline operations for its customers.
“We’re continuing to invest in the platform and powerful cross-product integrations, but also in ways to simplify management,” he concluded.
