GREENSBORO, N.C.—Global GRAB Technologies, a portfolio company of Gladstone Investments, has acquired Barrier1 Systems, a designer and manufacturer of perimeter security and safety solutions, from Valesco Industries.
Barrier1, headquartered in Greensboro, N.C., specializes in crash-rated nets, barriers, beams and detection systems designed to protect critical infrastructure and high-security environments. The company serves a range of government and commercial customers, including military installations, airports, data centers, entertainment venues and law enforcement facilities.
Cascadia Capital served as exclusive financial advisor to Barrier1 and Valesco Industries in the transaction.
“Barrier1 has built a highly differentiated and strategically relevant platform within the specialized perimeter security market,” said Michael Del Pero, managing director at Cascadia Capital.
Del Pero said the company has seen growing interest from both strategic acquirers and financial investors as governments and businesses continue to prioritize critical infrastructure protection and homeland security investments.
The acquisition expands Global GRAB’s presence in the perimeter security market and adds Barrier1’s portfolio of engineered physical security solutions to its platform.
“Partnering with Global GRAB is the perfect next step for Barrier1,” said Jamie Parsons, president of Barrier1. “Over the years, we’ve built a business that our customers trust to protect the facilities and infrastructure that matter most. Partnering with Global GRAB will allow us to bring that capability to a broader platform with even greater reach. I’m proud of what our team has built, and I’m thrilled to be partnering with Global GRAB given what I believe we can accomplish together.”
