MDI SAFEnet added to GSA FIPS 201 Approved Products List

ATLANTA and SAN ANTONIO, Texas—Identity One and Monitor Dynamics Inc. (MDI) announced that the MDI SAFEnet 6.216 unified security management platform has been added to the U.S. General Services Administration's (GSA’s) FIPS 201 Approved Products List (APL) when deployed with Identity One's FIPSlink Access validation system. The listing certifies the combined solution under the GSA's PACS 13.01 topology, providing federal agencies with a GSA-tested path for authenticating Personal Identity Verification (PIV), Common Access Card (CAC), PIV-Interoperable (PIV-I) and Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) credentials. SAFEnet 6.216 is listed as APL #10199 in the PACS Infrastructure category, while the Identity One FIPSlink Access validation system is listed as APL #10200. Together, the companies said, the products form an end-to-end solution that has been tested by GSA as an integrated system, validating the PACS infrastructure, credential validation platform and PIV reader configuration. According to the companies, the approval enables federal agencies to meet HSPD-12 and FIPS 201 requirements using a tested configuration rather than relying on custom integrations or separate approval processes. “Agencies should not have to choose between the access control platform they actually want and the FIPS 201 credential authentication the mandate requires,” said David Smith, CEO of Identity One. “Existing SAFEnet customers get a GSA FICAM-certified path to PIV, CAC, and PIV-I authentication as a quick, simple upgrade, without a custom solution, to enable compliance.” Identity One's FIPSlink platform performs certificate path validation, revocation checking and cryptographic authentication of credentials at the point of access, helping organizations comply with federal identity verification requirements. MDI CEO Chris Wofford said the approval reflects the company's long-term commitment to securing government and military facilities. “Passing FIPS 201 testing isn't just a milestone but a reaffirmation of the standard we've held ourselves to for decades,” Wofford said. MDI SAFEnet 6.216 with the Identity One FIPSlink Access validation system is available immediately. The companies will also showcase the solution at GSX 2026, Sept. 14-16, at booth #1025.

NFPA partners with NASCAR's Joey Gase

DAYTONA, Fla. – The  National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has sponsored NASCAR driver Joey Gase to spotlight “Safety Doesn’t Happen By Chance,” its public awareness campaign about the vital role that safety codes and standards play in keeping people safe. Gase was behind the wheel during the Coke Zero Sugar 400 on Aug. 29, 2026, in Daytona, Fla., racing the No. 44 car. “This race gives us an incredible opportunity to reach fans with a message that extends far beyond the track,” said Lorraine Carli, NFPA vice president of outreach and advocacy. “From the wiring in your home to the exits in your office, safety codes and standards work around the clock to protect you. Through our ongoing sponsorship of Joey Gase, we’re bringing these invisible protections to light and reminding racing fans why they matter.” The race continues NFPA’s collaboration with Gase, which began in 2023, bringing important fire safety messages directly to viewers across the country. Their work together comes at a time when established code development processes face increasing pressure from special interest groups seeking to bypass the rigorous, consensus-based approach that has helped advance safety for decades, the NFPA says.

Brivo integrates Schlage XE360 with Security Suite

AUSTIN, Texas – Brivo has announced the Schlage XE360 Series with RealSync lock is available within the Brivo Security Suite, delivering continuous, 24/7 Wi-Fi connectivity across all commercial doors at up to 70% lower cost per door than traditional hardwired systems, the company says. Unlike conventional wireless locks that rely on periodic, scheduled "check-ins" or proprietary gateways, the Schlage XE360 Series with RealSync maintains a continuous cloud connection using existing building Wi-Fi infrastructure, with remote commands and access updates executed in less than 10 seconds, it says. “For decades, security managers have had to compromise on which doors to secure because traditional hardwired access control simply didn't scale across an entire facility,” said Steve Van Till, founder and president of Brivo. “The Schlage XE360 Series with RealSync integrated with the Brivo Security Suite eliminates the cost and infrastructure, making real-time visibility and policy enforcement achievable for every single door opening.”

Benefits of integration include:

  • Delivers instant remote lock and unlock execution, on-demand audit logs and immediate door event alerts (such as forced or propped doors) without waiting for interval syncs.
  • Connects directly over existing Wi-Fi networks, eliminating the need for dedicated control panels, proprietary wireless gateways, or expensive wiring runs.
  • Reduces upfront capital costs and installation complexity, making full-facility access control for every door economically viable.
  • Easily upgrades existing doors from offline to real-time online locks by replacing the internal module rather than the entire lockset.
  • Offers full year of battery life on standard AA batteries while remaining continuously connected to the network.
  • Centralizes management of perimeter hardwired openings, interior wireless doors, video intelligence, and visitor management within a single Brivo Security Suite interface.

AXIS joins Palo Alto Networks initiative

CHELMSFORD, Mass. – Axis Communications has joined a strategic initiative created by Palo Alto Networks, the Frontier AI Critical Defense Program, to protect critical infrastructure from Frontier AI-driven exploits. As a founding partner in this program, Axis Communications will collaborate with Palo Alto Networks to provide joint customers with advanced, network-level protections designed to mitigate risks. In a landscape where AI is shortening the window between vulnerability discovery and exploitation, collaboration is essential,” said Sebastian Hultqvist, manager platform solutions, Axis Communications. “By joining this initiative as a founding partner, we are providing our customers with a proactive safety net. This coordination not only protects our customers today but also provides us with valuable insights to continuously improve our security posture.” Axis Communications says the rise of Frontier AI models is significantly accelerating the rate at which vulnerabilities are discovered and weaponized, increasing the patching burden on organizations worldwide. The initiative enables the company to securely coordinate with Palo Alto Networks to develop and deliver high-quality “virtual patches” at the network layer. These protections provide a critical layer of "air cover," allowing organizations the time they need to test and roll out official software updates without being exposed to security risks, it says.

LVT launches mobile security unit

AMERICAN FORK, Utah – LVT (LiveView Technologies) has unveiled Essentials, a mobile security unit (MSU) that the company says delivers baseline security features at an accessible cost. Essentials empowers teams with situational awareness and crime deterrence for $1,000 per month, bringing LVT’s uptime, digital security, and support to organizations that don’t require a robust security strategy, it says. “Site security shouldn't require an enterprise budget to justify,” said George Bentinck, chief product officer at LVT. “Essentials puts the same LVT platform, the same reliability, and the same deployment model in reach at an entry price, so customers can start where their site actually is and step up the intelligence as their needs grow.” Features of Essentials include:

  • Solar-powered, off-grid MSU featuring a 20MP Axis NDAA-compliant multi-sensor camera for expanded coverage.
  • Baseline situational awareness and deterrence – including blue strobe lights, live video streaming, and recorded video stored for 14 days – without LVT’s agentic AI or advanced features designed for comprehensive intelligent site management.
  • Video footage secured through a private cellular network, unlike public cellular connections that present considerable cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
