SILVER SPRING, Md.—The Security Industry Association (SIA) has revealed the agenda and speaker lineup for the 2026 SIA GovSummit - SIA’s annual public policy and government security technology conference. SIA GovSummit 2026 will be held May 20–21 in Washington, D.C. 

Each year, SIA GovSummit brings together government security leaders with private industry technologists for top-quality information sharing and education on security topics affecting federal, state and local agencies.

Security Industry Association (SIA)The 2026 GovSummit program includes specialized sessions on essential topics in contracting, procurement, infrastructure and facility protection; highlights how security product standards help meet government needs; and explores the latest policies, practices and trends impacting security.

Discussion topics include:

  • The evolution of federal identity in today’s digital-first environments
  • Protecting critical infrastructure from insider threats
  • How government entities can combat artificial intelligence attacks on physical security systems
  • The security operations center of the future
  • What’s new in government procurement and policy in 2026
  • The Safer Skies Act and the future of counterdrone defense
  • Ways to maximize funding opportunities when it comes to federal and state grants for physical security
  • Best practices for public-private partnerships that protect critical infrastructure
  • The latest research on school-based active shooter events
  • Implementation of new school security standards

“SIA’s 2026 GovSummit offers a compelling lineup of expert-led sessions on the most relevant issues and concerns in government, security and technology,” said SIA CEO Don Erickson. “We look forward to gathering leaders across government and industry in Washington, D.C., to share information, form connections and examine today’s security policy landscape, the procurement needs of the government, the latest industry trends and how security innovations are being used to safeguard schools, government facilities, public spaces, critical infrastructure and more.”

In addition to the day-and-a-half conference program, SIA GovSummit will include an evening reception on May 20 and a security roundtable lunch event on May 21, both offerings featuring great networking and refreshments.

Some of the early confirmed experts sharing their insights at GovSummit 2026 include leaders at the Idaho School Safety and Security Program, Texas State University’s ALERRT Center, the SERC Reliability Corporation, the Charles County Public Schools and more.

This event is free for all government employees, including U.S. and international federal, state, county and municipal-level staff, plus all military, law enforcement and public safety personnel. SIA GovSummit is considered a “widely attended gathering” and complies with all relevant event guidelines.
