ADT partners with Costco to sell smart home security packages, supporting demands of remote workers

BOCA RATON, Fla. – ADT recently entered into a partnership with Costco to sell a pair of professionally installed smart home security packages through the company’s website.

Saying they’re helping them to protect and connect what matters most, Costco is offering members the ability to order two different packages: a 9-piece system and a 13-piece system, both of which include Google Nest products and ADT Smart Monitoring. Additionally, both systems come professionally installed.

That’s important because ADT said that trends show a growing preference for professionally installed systems versus do-it-yourself smart home security systems. According to a cited report from Parks Associates the number of households electing to self-install their security has declined by 30% since 2019. "New work-at-home activities make home network dependability more critical than in the past," said Elizabeth Parks, President and CMO, Parks Associates. "These activities are driving high willingness to pay for support services, either as part of a device price at acquisition or an aftermarket service add-on. Providers have new opportunities to support consumers' remote work lifestyles and to provide that support virtually."

So far response to the offering has been positive according to ADT’s Sean Logan, head of retail development. “After just a few weeks of sales, we are off to a great start. Customers love having a curated and easy way to order smart home security and have white-glove delivery and set up, usually within a few days. They are seeing the value in our Costco partnership. It will be exciting to see how we ramp up over the next few months.”

Security Systems News reached out to ADT to see if there’s any other packages or products on the horizon for their partnership with Costco, but they declined any specifics with a company representative saying, “We see retail as an opportunity to bring our safe, smart and sustainable products and services to new customers. Costco is helping ADT connect and protect what matters most and we are thrilled to work with them.”

Products now available to Costco members here and here.
