Management shifts as Devcon builds security business

October 21, 2004 DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. - Now with a security division as part of its operations, Devcon International has restructured its management team and appointed a veteran of the security industry as its president. In early October, Steven Ruzika was named president of Devcon. The appointment of Ruzika as president comes as Devcon looks to build a security service business. Company officials announced plans to enter the security market in May and build the business by partnering with Ruzika, a former ADT Security Services executive. To do that, Devcon raised $18 million in financing and then bought a security company owned by Ruzika, Security Equipment Co., a small security firm that serves 3,000 customers in the Florida Panhandle. Officials from Devcon International could not be reached for comment prior to press time for the Security Systems Newswire. In his new role, Ruzika will lead and direct the company’s operating subsidiaries, which includes Construction and Materials, Utilities and Security Services. Other management changes at Devcon include David Rulien’s promotion to president of Construction and Materials operations and the announcement that Jan Norelid, vice president and chief financial officer, will leave the company to pursue other interests.
