New Honeywell low-light camera ideal for dimly lit interiors

MELVILLE, N.Y.—Honeywell this week introduced the iPCAM-WL, a new indoor IP video camera that uses advanced night vision and light sensors to help home and business owners view activity in poorly lit spaces. The camera—with wired or wireless Internet connectivity—can capture clear, high-quality video and uses H.264 high-compression technology to maintain image sharpness, the company said in a July 9 news release.

The camera is the latest addition to the Honeywell Total Connect video suite of solutions, and lets consumers access and manage their surveillance systems remotely from Wi-Fi enabled devices such as smartphones or tablets.

“A camera's performance in dark indoor areas has become increasingly important in both residential and commercial settings,” said Dean Mason, senior communications product manager, Honeywell, in a prepared statement. “The iPCAM-WL is an excellent way for consumers to visually identify activity in poorly lit environments at the site of an alarm event—even if they're miles away. That can bring a great sense of comfort to the home and business owner, and an increased sense of loyalty to their provider.”

The iPCAM-WL works in conjunction with Honeywell Total Connect video services to provide remote viewing and video clips in low-light applications. In addition, the camera's compact and portable design enables easy plug-and-play installation, the company said.
