Silent Knight fire/CO detector wins top SIA honors

NORTHFORD, Conn.—Silent Knight by Honeywell's IntelliKnight SK-FIRE-CO fire and carbon monoxide detector has been named the top fire/life safety solution in the Security Industry Association's New Product Showcase (NPS) competition, the company announced in April.

The SK-FIRE-CO offers substantial cost savings via eliminating multiple components, in addition to reducing nuisance alarms and satisfying new code requirements, according to a company news release.

As one device replacing a CO detector, smoke detector, mini horn, monitor modules, three junction boxes and all related wire, the SK-FIRE-CO detector offers substantial savings and a cleaner room appearance, the company said. To satisfy local and national fire alarm requirements, the detector's B200S sounder base provides distinct tones for a fire versus a CO emergency, and can be synchronized to nearby horns, according to the company.

Working in concert with the entire line of IntelliKnight version 13 fire alarm systems, the detector's sounder base can be programmed as a single or multi-station alarm.

This year's NPS had 106 entries from 88 companies, according to the news release. The NPS was established in 1979 to recognize innovative products, services and solutions in electronic, physical security.
