Input sought on bus video plan

VICTORIA, British Columbia—BC Transit is looking for input on its plan to install video surveillance, according to a report in the Times Colonist.
The BC Transit authority plans to issue a request for a contract in late summer to install and operate a digital surveillance system for the authority's buses, BC Transit spokeswoman Meribeth Burton said in the report. The potential cost was not immediately available.

Honeywell Security Group-Canada has new GM

TORONTO—Honeywell has named JP Lapointe as general manager of Honeywell Security Group-Canada, the company announced recently. He was previously national accounts manager.
Lapointe will oversee security product activities and lead efforts to pinpoint ways to build relationships with customers, driving and sustaining growth, according to the news release.
Based here, Lapointe will also manage sales, marketing, technical and customer support teams in Canada.

Vivint rapidly automating Canadian homes

Vivint signaled it was one of the nation's home automation market leaders nearly two years ago when it changed its name from APX Alarm to Vivint, rebranding to reflect its expansion beyond home security into home automation services.
