Virginia security provider having 'best year ever'

September 12, 2012Tess Nacelewicz

When I wrote about Richmond Alarm last summer, it was having a good year. The Richmond, Va.-based, family-owned, full-service security company had grown its footprint into Eastern Virginia with a new acquisition, making that company the largest locally-owned security provider in the state. But 2012 is turning out to be an even better year for Richmond Alarm. Not only did the company celebrate its 65th anniversary this year, but it also won Chesterfield County's business of the year award this summer. Also,...

Richmond Alarm out of home theater

July 28, 2011Tess Nacelewicz

RICHMOND, Va.—Richmond Alarm this month sold a home theater/home audio business that it purchased two years ago to a local home technology integrator. The sale to Livewire of NSN Technologies took place July 18, said Wayne Boggs, president of Richmond Alarm, a Honeywell First Alert dealer based here. NSN did not perform as expected after the bottom fell out of the new housing construction market in the recession, so the offer by Livewire to purchase the business benefited both companies, Boggs...

Multra-Guard is a good fit geographically for Richmond Alarm, he told Security Systems News. “We...

There are plenty of virtual and classroom training options provided by industry associations like CSAA and SIA. And, many monitoring companies take full control and create their own training programs for employees. Experts who spoke to Security Systems...

Richmond Alarm consolidates operations

September 30, 2010Daniel Gelinas

MIDLOTHIAN, Va.—Wayne Boggs says his company, Richmond Alarm Company, is ready for future growth with an almost completed move from four different offices in three different locations in downtown Richmond into a much larger, single building on a 4.5-acre lot, based here. “The last two years we've seen a decline in sales. We've seen that improve a little bit in the last few months. It's a slow recovery so far, but we have a huge customer base and a huge monitoring base,” Boggs said....
