ADDISON, Texas — In a security industry where visual acuity is the name of the game, AtlasIED, a 91-year-old company that was born out of the audio market but 20 years ago jumped into the IP endpoint mass communication market, is letting its voice be heard.

The company recently shared a case study highlighting the update of a Texas school’s mass communication system to a more modern and centralized platform. Trinity Christian Academy (TCA) used the construction of a new middle school to replace its cumbersome existing technologies, which included bells, clocks and loudspeakers, many of which were analog.

“Even though some of the loudspeakers on campus weren’t working properly, one of the biggest pains they had was their old analog clocks,” said Jason Burrows, AV manager at Superior Fiber and Data Services, which designed TCA’s new system. “Every time there was a time change, or they just weren't keeping their time correctly, they would have to go out and reset the clocks. So that was very annoying to them.”

The family-owned AtlasIED has nine locations and a network of manufacturer representatives and distributors around the world, as well as numerous technology partners.

Those partners include Singlewire, which allowed TCA’s updated solution to combine several AtlasIED IPX endpoints with communication software.

“Leveraging software from different partners like Singlewire’s InformaCast, (we) were able to create an entire ecosystem, including access control (and) door locks – just bringing together the entire security ecosystem to ensure that communications are heard and seen,” company representatives said.

TCA said its staff now appreciate the modern aesthetic of the device and audio upgrades and the ease of use and improved audio clarity of the new paging interface. Burrows called the new system robust and believes that it will be able to grow over time with the school as its needs evolve.

“We wouldn't have been successful without AtlasIED’s help,” he added.
