Hertel to head new CSAA Video Committee, oversee subcommittees

VIENNA, Va.—Morgan Hertel, vice president of operations at Rapid Response Monitoring Services, has been named chairman of the new CSAA Video Committee, according to a statement from the organization.

The committee will provide oversight to two newly formed subcommittees: the Managed Services Subcommittee and the Enhanced Video Verification Subcommittee. It will also provide direction and coordination between the Electronic Security Association, the Security Industry Association, the Security Industry Alarm Coalition, and the CSAA's Standards and PSLC committees.

The Enhanced Video Verification Subcommittee will be co-chaired by Don Young of Protection One and Jim Mooney of Tyco Integrated Security. The goal of the subcommittee is to “coordinate efforts to reach out to the law enforcement community with regard to promoting enhanced video verification as a new technology that can provide enhanced information” about burglaries and intrusions, and to help reduce false dispatches, the statement said.

Steve Surfaro of Axis Communications and Rob Baxter of Vancouver Fire will co-chair the Managed Services Subcommittee, which will provide comprehensive “mapping of available products and services that touch or use video content,” according to the statement.
