Mayor/business owner donate funds for security system

EVART, Mich.—When Eric Schmidt, who is mayor of this city, the parent of a middle school student and a local business owner, found out that Evart Middle School had some security risks he set out to find a solution, according to a report in Cadillacnews.com

Working with administration, Schmidt helped the district proposed a two-part plan, including a video identification system and a computerized identification card for staff at entrances.

The report said that Stanley Security cut fees to make the security system a reality and the Schmidt family, on behalf of its local businesses, Unit Assistant and Affordable Prints, donated more than $4,100 to install the system.

Stanley Security is working with the school district to find funding in the form of sponsorship and grants to improve security at all the school's facilities.
