YARMOUTH, Maine — Agentic AI is gaining momentum in the security industry but concerns over data privacy and compliance are slowing its stride, according to a recent SSN News Poll.
Used to automate complex monitoring operations, agentic AI is finding a use in any number of applications, but is the industry truly ready to embrace it? Over half of respondents are considering integrating agentic AI solutions into their security offerings in the next 12-24 months.
LVT recently appointed new president Chris Beckstead to lead the company’s expansion into agentic AI, stating that the future of security isn’t reactive, but proactive, a commonly expressed sentiment in the industry of late. “We are at an inflection point,” said Ryan Porter, LVT co-founder and CEO. “We are ready to work together to expand our market leadership and deliver on our vision.”
As for what offers the most potential benefit as a security integration for agentic AI, responses were split evenly between automating repetitive monitoring tasks and enhancing real-time threat detection and response.
“AI technologies such as facial recognition, dynamic call routing and presence detection could help the industry move from reactive alerts to proactive protection by recognizing unusual activity, routing signals more intelligently and reducing false alarms before they escalate,” said Rick Sheets, vice president of monitoring & compliance at Brinks Home.
But adoption of agentic AI is not a worry-free endeavor, with 75% of poll respondents stating that their largest concern with deploying agentic AI in security environments is linked to data privacy and compliance risks. LinkedIn was sued earlier this year for disclosing customer data that it turned over to third parties to train their AI models.
The remaining 25% of responses remain hesitant because of costs related to deployment and maintenance.
