SIAC hands out Moody Award

FRISCO, Texas—Sharon Elder, vice president of sales for the National Monitoring Center in Aliso Viejo, Calif., is the recipient of the Security Industry Alarm Coalition's 2013 William N. Moody Award, which recognizes excellence in alarm industry leaders for their leadership in “best practices” management, according to a news release.

Specifically, the Moody Award is given to alarm industry managers who incorporate best practices of alarm management, allowing law enforcement “more efficient use of their resources to improve public safety.”

Elder has worked with officials in several communities in southern California, meeting with police executives and elected officials in Anaheim, where officials decided they would cease responding to alarms. Using SIAC guidelines, Elder developed a solution, helping officials fine-tune their ordinance through the legislative process, the news release noted.

The William N. Moody Award was established in 2004 by the SIAC board of directors, and given out annually to individuals who reflect attributes including fairness, integrity and perseverance in the face of adversity, according to the news release.
