Speco celebrates 60th anniversary

AMITYVILLE, NY—Speco announced that it is celebrating its 60th anniversary this month, and properly marked this momentous occasion by a looking back over “these wonderful sixty years.”

Some highlights include:
• Speco got its start as an audio company, which is where the origin of our company name came from. Speco is derived from SPEaker COmpany.
• It wasn't until the late eighties that Speco transitioned from solely selling audio, to becoming the notable security company it is today.
• Speco sold its first camera and DVR in 1988!
• Speco has been a family owned and operated company since 1974, when Mr. Louis Keller a Speco rep and board member purchased the business.
• Speco is currently owned by both Mr. Keller's children, Todd Keller and Rhonda Keller Mutterperl.

“Family has always been an integral part of Speco's identity. We pride ourselves on being one of the top companies within this industry that still remains family owned. It's a tremendous feat that we do not take for granted!” Speco President Todd Keller said in the announcement. “We want to thank everyone for utilizing Speco's products for the past sixty years.”
