Walmart’s RFID requirement spurs new products and services

May 20, 2004 BOCA RATON, Fla. - ADT Security Services, a division of Tyco Fire & Security, has introduced a new line of products and services aimed at Walmart’s radio frequency identification deadline of January 2005. The retailer’s top 100 suppliers must place RFID tags on all cases and pallets entering the retailer’s facilities by the beginning of the year. ADT’s Sensormatic SensorID RFID Launch package features hardware, software and services. Designed for consumer goods manufacturers, Sensormatic SensorID includes antennas, readers, software and tags. ADT will also provide product training, site surveys, technical support and on-site installation.  ADT developed the package in conjunction with the RFID unit within Tyco Fire & Security. Last year, the two groups founded epcStars, an industry group focused on retail supply chain RFID integration issues, such as those related to emerging trends, services and technologies.
