Monroe residents will be fined for false alarms

MONROE, Conn.—A story from the Connecticut Post reports the Monroe Town Council passed an ordinance Dec. 13 that decrees a homeowner will be fined $50 the second time his or her alarm goes off without good cause, with the fine going up for repeat offenses. The ordinance was pared down from an original version, which called for a one-time fee when a homeowner registered an alarm, as well as a yearly maintenance fee. About 60 other Connecticut towns have similar ordinances, according to the story....
