“40 under 40” Takeover!

“40 under 40” Takeover!

No, don’t worry – we haven’t been hacked! But we are undergoing a “40 under 40” Class of 2020 takeover of our website, again! For the third time this year! This is my favorite time here at Security Systems News because we get to celebrate, in a really big way, eight more “40 under 40” winners from our class of 2020.

This is also the time of the year to inspire you to nominate someone – a peer, a co-worker, someone you mentor (even yourself) – in any of the nominating areas (integrator/dealer, monitoring professional, consultant or end user)  to be recognized as the next generation of industry leaders. We are excited to build on the momentum of our “40 under 40” program, which we have been doing for more than a decade!

And to help make it easier, we have extended the nomination deadline to July 30, as well as gotten a little carried away here on our website (just scroll up and you will see) with a big banner ad that you can click on to nominate someone. Plus, you can read the latest round of “great eight” profiles on the site.

I also hope you noticed that we are highlighting our winners from 2020 all year long, about four per month in our print issue, and then, of course, here on our website. Just click on the "40 under 40" tab to see all our profiles so far this year.

As Class of 2020 winner Zack Morris, Director of Commercial Career Programs at ADT Commercial, points out in his profile, it is all about helping and seeing colleagues succeed, and recognizing them for it.

“When it comes to my role at ADT Commercial, I am one of our leading champions of growth, progress and development for all employees,” Morris explained. “Because of that, I am lucky to have the opportunity on a day-to-day basis to develop and lead programs explicitly designed around empowering our people to grow in their security industry careers and develop into true industry leaders who make a difference each day for our customers.”

Fellow Class of 2020 “40 under 40” winner Jeremy Reich, who is General Counsel for Unlimited Technology Inc., offered up some advice for companies looking to increase their pool of young, diverse and talented employees, especially with this being one of the top concerns for many in the security industry right now.

“I think one of the most important things companies can do to get more talented, diverse young people involved in the security industry is to be open to experiences from other industries,” Reich said. “The security industry is expanding to include a broader array of technology enabled services and products which, in turn, makes a broader scope of backgrounds and experiences relevant. Individuals with perspectives from other industries can be a source for valuable quality talent.”

Check out our profiles for some more words of wisdom, and don’t forget to nominate someone!
