CHARLOTTE, N.C.—Double-digit growth in Honeywell's fire and security businesses helped drive another strong quarter for the company's Building Automation segment, which reported 8% organic growth during the third quarter.
Product sales increased 11%, led by fire and security, while services activity also contributed to growth across the segment.
"We delivered 7% organic sales growth above the high end of the targets we unveiled at Investor Day in June," said Vimal Kapur, chairman and CEO of Honeywell, during the company's third-quarter earnings call.
"Demand across the portfolio was broad-based, which drove short-cycle orders growth of 8%, excluding our divestitures, led by industrial and building automation," Kapur added.
Fire and security fuel growth
For security industry professionals, the quarter's most notable result was the continued strength of Honeywell's fire and security operations.
"The performance was principally driven by 11% organic growth in products, led by both the fire and security businesses, while solutions also grew 4% organically, driven by strength in services," said CFO Mike Stepniak.
Honeywell said Building Automation's performance benefited from continued demand for connected building technologies that integrate security, fire, controls and software. The company also highlighted its Honeywell Forge software platform as a contributor to recurring revenue growth and broader technology adoption.
Margins expand
In addition to revenue growth, Building Automation improved profitability during the quarter.
According to Stepniak, segment margins expanded 30 basis points to 27%, driven by volume leverage and pricing actions that helped offset inflationary pressures.
The results contributed to a strong quarter overall for Honeywell, which reported adjusted earnings per share of $2.27 and raised its full-year outlook for organic growth, earnings and free cash flow. Company executives said continued demand across building technologies positions the company for further growth heading into 2027.
