Truelink to acquire Johnson Controls intrusion products business

LOS ANGELES—Truelink Capital has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Johnson Controls' global intrusion products business, a move that will place several long-standing security industry brands under independent ownership backed by private-equity investment.

The business includes a portfolio of intrusion and alarm communication brands widely used by security dealers and integrators, including DSC, Qolsys, PowerG, Visonic, Bentel and Sur-Gard. The unit designs and manufactures intrusion detection products such as control panels, sensors, detectors and alarm communication technologies, serving customers across North America, Latin America, EMEA and APAC.

Truelink CapitalFollowing the acquisition, the business will operate as a standalone company, with Truelink saying it plans to invest in research and development, engineering resources and expanded channel programs.

"The global intrusion products business is a remarkable collection of brands that security professionals and consumers have relied on for decades," said Todd Golditch, co-founder and managing partner of Truelink Capital. "We see tremendous runway ahead for the business and plan to invest meaningfully behind the core brands, R&D, and product development to accelerate the pace of new product introductions and deepen the business's support for the dealer and partner community."

The company said it intends to invest in next-generation intrusion panels, sensors, communicators and interactive platforms while also pursuing expansion into adjacent product categories and international markets. Truelink added that strategic acquisitions could also play a role in the company's growth strategy.

The business traces its roots to 1973 and was built through Tyco's acquisitions of DSC and Visonic before becoming part of Johnson Controls following the company's merger with Tyco in 2016.

The transaction marks Truelink's fourth platform investment for Truelink Capital Fund II and follows its 2024 acquisition of Air Distribution Technologies, another Johnson Controls carve-out. Evercore served as financial advisor to Truelink.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
