NAPCO releases GEM-XK5 Slimline Keypad for Gemini security platform

AMITYVILLE, N.Y.—NAPCO Security Technologies has announced the availability of its new GEM-XK5 Slimline Keypad, designed to provide a modern interface and enhanced installation flexibility for the company's Gemini security platform.

The keypad features a slim profile measuring less than three-quarters of an inch deep and includes a bright aqua 32-character backlit display, soft-touch oval keys and dedicated Stay/Away buttons for one-touch arming.

Additional features include customizable alphanumeric zone descriptors, LED indicators for system status and carbon monoxide alarms, and a wireless signal-strength display for Gemini wireless devices.

NAPCO said the GEM-XK5 also incorporates a built-in four-zone expansion module, eliminating the need for a separate module in certain installations. The keypad supports multiple mounting configurations, including single-gang, double-gang and 4-inch-by-4-inch electrical boxes, and offers both terminal-strip and quick-connect harness connections.

The GEM-XK5 is compatible with Gemini control panels ranging from the GEM-P816 through the GEM-X255, allowing dealers to upgrade existing systems without replacing the control panel. According to the company, the keypad's backward compatibility can help reduce installation time and costs for end users.

For applications requiring wireless support, the GEM-XK5-RF model includes an integrated RF receiver capable of supporting up to 255 wireless points, depending on the control panel. NAPCO also offers GEM-XR5 and GEM-XR5-RF models featuring traditional RP1-style keys.

The GEM-XK5 is ETL Listed to UL 985, UL 1023 and UL 2610 standards and is backed by a 36-month limited warranty. The keypad is available now through distribution channels.
