Milestone updates XProtect, Arcules with new mapping, management capabilities

COPENHAGEN, Denmark—Milestone Systems has released XProtect 2026 R2 and a series of fall 2026 updates to its Arcules cloud video security platform, adding new tools designed to improve situational awareness, simplify system administration and strengthen cloud and hybrid deployments.

The latest updates come as organizations continue to manage growing numbers of cameras, devices and sites across increasingly complex security environments.

Milestone Systems“Our customers are managing more cameras, more sites and more information than ever, and they need that complexity to work for them rather than against them,” said Andrew Burnett, CTO of Milestone Systems. “With XProtect 2026 R2 and the latest Arcules updates, we're giving operators clearer context when incidents happen and giving administrators simpler ways to keep growing systems secure, current and reliable, however they choose to deploy.”

A key addition to XProtect 2026 R2 is Maps, which provides geographic and floor-plan-based views that bring together cameras, alarms, connected devices and live video streams. Designed for large environments such as airports, hospitals and campuses, the feature helps operators quickly identify where incidents are occurring and access nearby camera feeds. Milestone said Maps will be available in a future XProtect Smart Client release.

The release also introduces Sticky Notes, allowing operators to attach site-specific instructions, shift handover details and other operational information directly within camera views. Administrators can centrally manage notes through the XProtect Management Client.

To simplify administration of larger deployments, Milestone has added Server Logs, which centralizes audit, system and rule logs across an XProtect environment. The feature is intended to streamline troubleshooting, compliance reporting and integration with third-party monitoring tools.

Another new capability, Permission Inheritance, automatically applies access permissions to newly added cameras and devices based on their assigned groups, reducing administrative effort as systems expand.

Milestone also highlighted ongoing enhancements to XProtect Remote Manager, available through Milestone Care Plus, which provides browser-based oversight of multi-site deployments and delivers real-time system health information.

For Arcules users, the latest update introduces Cloud Backup for Edge Gateways, which provides off-site video retention by uploading a lower-resolution secondary stream to the cloud. Milestone said the approach improves resilience while minimizing bandwidth and storage requirements.

The company has also integrated Triton Sensors technology into Arcules, bringing environmental and occupancy sensor data together with video and event information on a single platform. Users can create alarms, rules and video-linked sensor events from within the system.

Additional Arcules enhancements include encrypted device communications between gateways and supported cameras, improved local video streaming performance, and operational improvements for hybrid Arcules-XProtect deployments, including safer upgrades, expanded diagnostics and role-based alarm access.
