Stefan Widing to lead HID Global Widing replaces Denis Hebert who left in May

STOCKHOLM—Stefan Widing will take over as head of HID Global and EVP of ASSA ABLOY, parent company of HID, on Aug. 1.

Widing will replace longtime HID Global CEO Denis Hebert who left HID May 23.

HID Global is a provider of secure identity and access control products based in Austin, Texas.

Ulf Sdergren, ASSA ABLOY CTO, has served as interim CEO of HID since Hebert's departure. He will continue in this role until Widing starts his new job.

Neither ASSA ABLOY nor HID Global has made an official announcement, but HID customers told Security Systems News that today they received an email announcement from Sdergren alerting them of Widing's appointment.

Based in Sweden, Widing has been with ASSA ABLOY since 2006. For the past two years he has been GM of ASSA ABLOY's Shared Technologies division, a division that reports to Sdergren.

Widing earned a degree in business administration from Linkping University and a master's in applied physics and electrical engineering from The Institute of Technology at Linkping University.
