Thomas Jensen steps down as Milestone Systems CEO

COPENHAGEN, Denmark—Milestone Systems has announced that chief executive officer (CEO) Thomas Jensen has stepped down from his position, effective immediately.

Chairman Lau Normann Jørgensen noted that Vice Chairman of the Board Jeppe Frandsen will serve as acting CEO until a permanent successor is named and will no longer be part of the board. Seymour Liebman, executive vice president of Canon, will join Milestone’s board as vice chairman.

Milestone SystemsFrandsen brings over 25 years of international leadership experience and has served on the board of Milestone for more than 10 years as vice chairman of the board. “With deep insight and proven expertise with Milestone, Jeppe will ensure we stay focused and execute our strategy,” said Jorgensen.

Frandsen will not be considered for the permanent CEO position but will collaborate closely with the board to oversee the search for Milestone’s next CEO.

During his tenure as interim CEO, Frandsen will work closely with the leadership team to ensure continuity and accelerate momentum. “Milestone is a world leader in our industry and has a solid foundation in our strategy, offerings and product roadmap,” Jorgensen said.

To further strengthen cohesion and collaboration across the organization, the Milestone board of directors has agreed to initiate a search for a successor to Jensen.

On adding Liebman to the board, Jorgensen said. “Seymour’s appointment, alongside Minoru Asada, group executive F&A, underscores Canon’s strong commitment to Milestone.”

Jensen, who served as CEO of the video management software company since 2020, said in a LinkedIn post, “I look back on a period marked by significant strategic and commercial achievements. Together, we have doubled revenue in just four years, completed successful acquisitions of brighter AI, Arcules, and BriefCam, and made difficult, but necessary decisions during a time characterized by major change, geopolitical instability, and societal challenges. Amid all this, we also established the strategically important collaboration with NVIDIA on Project Hafnia, which has helped position Milestone technologically for the future.

“Above all, I am proud to have helped lay the foundation for Milestone’s future - a company that today is no longer known solely for video surveillance but is also positioned as a credible and serious player within Responsible AI video models and privacy technology.”

Jorgensen noted that “Jensen has, during his five years leading Milestone, succeeded in positioning Milestone as a leader within the Responsible Technology, AI and EU data sovereignty agenda. We thank Thomas for his contributions and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
