Tim Rains joins ADT as new CISO

BOCA RATON, Fla. – ADT has announced the appointment of its new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Tim Rains.

With over 20 years of experience in the cybersecurity industry, Rains is being tasked with spearheading initiatives in cybersecurity strategy, assurance, compliance, vulnerability management, risk management, and governance for ADT.

“I’m eager to see Tim’s influence on ADT’s cybersecurity efforts and know he will make a meaningful addition to an already excellent team,” said Sam Jaddi, Chief Information Officer at ADT. “We know that every second counts, and Tim will certainly play a pivotal role in bringing that belief to life, ensuring the safety of our customers and employees at all times.”

Prior to joining ADT, Rains led cyber security strategy, assurance, compliance, vulnerability management, risk management and governance for tech companies like T-Mobile, Amazon, and Microsoft.

At Amazon Web Services, Tim and his team advised public sector organizations around the world on how to mitigate threats using AWS cloud services. During his 17 years at Microsoft, Tim was the technical leader for the customer-facing incident response team, developed tools to detect threats on Windows systems and performed live forensics. He played an integral role in evolving cyber security at Microsoft.

Rains has also written two cybersecurity books and has extensive experience working on both the vendor and operational sides of security.
