Vivint CEO named 2013 entrepreneur of the year

PROVO, Utah—Todd Pedersen, co-founder and CEO of Vivint, has been named the 2013 entrepreneur of the year by MountainWest Capital Network, according to an article from The Digital Universe, a campus newspaper at Brigham Young University.

“My success as an entrepreneur stems from the fact that I love what I'm doing and where we are trying to take this company,” Pedersen said in the article. “We are really having a lot of fun.”

Vivint, which employs over 3,200 employees and hires a few thousand more during the summer to work as sales representatives, has undergone an 825 percent customer growth rate from 2005 to 2010, according to the article.

David Thorpe, president of MountainWest Capital Network, said Pedersen's forward-thinking outlook and will to innovate are both key elements to Vivint's rapid growth.

Pedersen accepted the award Feb. 21 at the Salt Lake City Grand America Hotel.
