Z-Wave Alliance highlights smart fire safety solutions during Fire Prevention Week

SAN RAMON, Calif.—The Z-Wave Alliance is spotlighting a range of Z-Wave Certified fire safety products in recognition of Fire Prevention Week 2026, which runs under the National Fire Protection Association’s theme, “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower.”

The organization said the initiative comes as homeowners increasingly look to connected technologies to help reduce fire risks and improve emergency response. According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, approximately 47,000 electrical fires occur in U.S. homes each year.

The Alliance highlighted several Z-Wave-enabled products designed to help prevent or mitigate residential fires, including Climax Technology’s Power Switch Series for remote appliance shutoff; FireAvert’s automatic stove shutoff system; First Alert’s ZCOMBO-G-2 smoke and carbon monoxide detector; Heatit’s Z-Smoke Battery sensor; Siterwell’s Power Plug Sensor; and Vision’s Outdoor Siren 3.

“These connected devices can help homeowners identify potential hazards earlier, monitor conditions remotely and receive timely alerts when abnormal electrical or environmental conditions are detected,” the Alliance said.

The organization noted that all Z-Wave Certified products undergo testing for interoperability, security and reliability within the broader Z-Wave ecosystem. Additional information is available through the Z-Wave Certified Product Catalog.
