Scout Alarm system now shipping to crowdfund backers

CHICAGOHomesecurity systems provider Scout Alarm is finalizing partnerships with Lockitron and IFTTT that will allow consumers to integrate Scout's home security product with Lockitron and IFTTT by the end of the year, according to Scout.

Scout is now shipping its home security product to crowdfunding backers who preordered. Scout's flagship project was crowdfunded independently, exceeding its fundraising goal of $180,000 within a matter of days, ultimately raising over $474,000 to date, the company said.

“The affordable, hassle-free home security system that our backers have waited for patiently will now be in their own homes very soon,” said Dan Roberts, Scout CEO and founder. “Our customers were so enthusiastic about Scout from the start, and we are excited to provide an even more comprehensive, user-friendly experience that results in a more secure home.”

Scout's main features, according to the company, include being transportable—renters and homeowners can take the system with them when they move; instant installation; remote monitoring and control; low monthly fees; and its ability to allow temporary home access to visitors.
