Double hemispheric camera called ideal for hotel, bank applications

NEW YORK—Mobotix in July introduced a new “flexible" double hemispheric camera called the S14 FlexMount, which the company said can fully secure two rooms “located next to or on top of one another” with one camera.

The camera has miniature lens units and is available in mono and dual versions.

“The S14 features a flat housing that can be installed discreetly and with optimal protection behind a wall or ceiling, which is ideal for hotels, restaurants and offices as well as installation in devices like ATMs,” Steve Gorski, GM for the Americas for Mobotix, told Security Systems News in an email interview.

“The S14 allows retailers, for example, to install a megapixel surveillance camera that will capture high-quality video data in a discreet manner, keeping thieves from noticing that a camera is installed,” he said, noting that hotels are often looking for a camera that will “blend with the existing environment while still maintaining a high level of safety. For either application, the S14 is an ideal solution.”

The S14D has two hemispheric sensor modules, each with a horizontal viewing angle of 180 degrees, which means that two adjacent spaces can be monitored simultaneously using one camera.

“When installed in an L-shaped room, the two sensor modules need to be positioned at the corner in correct angles to each other to capture the entire room without any blind spots. Installers will need to confirm and maintain that the camera angles are correct,” Gorski said.

All Mobotix lenses in day or night versions will be available in the near future.
